A few decades ago, Rudy Giuliani was known as “America’s Mayor” with an approval rating of over 90%. His response to the tragedy of 9/11 made him a national hero. The fame he garnered, however, ultimately became the seeds of his undoing, leading to a lengthy series of moral compromises.
Author and ex-host of “Inside City Hall,” Andrew Kirtzman, wrote a new book called “Giuliani: The Rise and Tragic Fall of America’s Mayor.” He joined Errol Louis on this week’s “You Decide” to discuss the story of Giuliani. Their conversation covered Giuliani working-class upbringing, his disinterest in the 1960s counterculture, his incredible success as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and his misguided mission in the Ukraine to find some dirt on Joe Biden through his decision to align himself with former president Donald Trump.
Errol Louis also shared some of his own memories of covering Giuliani over the years.
