National Institute for Veterans (NIFV) is comprised of disabled veterans from multiple countries as well as civil servants who worked supporting the military objectives of the United States. Every military level has representation, from the low, medium, and high ranks, then into corporations and contractors who provide services to the military. Today there are about 19 million living Veterans that served in the United States military. Therefore, Veterans represent 5.7% of the US population of 329.5 million with only 1.4 million of the 19 million actively serving in all the military branches. The United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is the second largest department, after the Unites States Department of Defense. The VA has a budget of about $400 billion and employs nearly 500,000 employees which include medical facilities, clinics, and benefits offices throughout the US. It was about 156 years ago when President Abraham Lincoln made a promise that any military member would receive proper care. The Continental Congress drafted into law a disability pensions program for all Veterans who served a minimum period of time on active duty in 1866. Since that time Veterans have struggled keeping the government committed to that program and therefore many have died due to disabilities they acquired, or hardships caused from their time in service.Read more
