Hey U-nity,
"Please Vote and Please Be Kind and Trust God"
Hey, I get it that our political climate has turned quite nasty in these past few years. Some people I love seem to have forgotten the Spiritual Principles we espouse here at Unity, and are making choices based on hate and inhumane beliefs. I hear the most awful opinions, both from my friends and from many strangers as well. Recently, I heard someone here say they wished the President would be assassinated. Others I know have said that they wish the former President would be assassinated. And don’t get me started on what I am still hearing about Hillary’s emails.
Knock it off people! We must come to terms with Divine Law, and remember that what we wish for another we wish for ourselves. It seems that so many of us have forgotten that we are all people. It shocks me that so many elected officials are treating people as if they are cattle to be brought to slaughter. And the other shocking part is that now, so many of the general public are starting to treat themselves and each other as objects rather than sacred beings.
It is our right and privilege to vote in this country. We need to become informed objectively, register to vote, and then show up at the polls and vote for the candidates that offer the most to the most people.
It is never my place to tell you who I am voting for. For a large part of my life, I didn’t stay informed and I didn’t bother to vote. Then, one year I realized that it is my right as a citizen of this country to vote. Many citizens of other countries don’t have that right. Not that long ago, many here didn’t have the right. Black people didn’t have the right to vote in America. Now, every black person ought to be out at the polls, even if it is made difficult for them in some areas of our country. Women didn’t have the right to vote. Now women must be pro-active and vote as is their right. We have all earned the right to vote, even if we shouldn’t have had to “earn” it in the first place.
That being said, vote for who and what you’re FOR, and vote with LOVE. Vote after inviting Spirit from the Highest part of your mind to speak through you to tell you which candidates have the most integrity and are most likely to serve ALL people. Let’s have fun with our voting, and keep affirming, “The highest good for all beings is happening NOW!”
Blessings in the Highest,
Rev. Shawn
