Living From the Super-consciousness
"Will I End the Day Satisfied?"
I was reading something for a group today and the passage was asking if we will die knowing we had done what we were supposed to do.
I think that is too much to ask of ourselves. Let’s just focus on today. Think on last night first. Did I go to bed knowing I had thought, said and done what ought to have been done by me? Did I go to bed knowing that God is my Source and Supply? Now let’s look at today. Am I living today knowing that God is my Source and Supply? Am I interrupting thoughts that sell God and myself short?
Am I at peace right now? Or am I trying to “figure out” how to solve all of my problems? Or worse, am I trying to “figure out” how to solve someone else’s problems? Do I think I am doing it alone?
My life changed with one prayer many years ago. My prayer was, “God, I need help, I can’t do it alone anymore.” That prayer revealed a lot to me. Mostly it told me I thought I was doing life alone…without help and without connection.
When someone is doing life alone (in their perception) they can never be satisfied. There will always be so much more to do. Are you one who thinks they never get enough done? Are you worried that you are going to be criticized for not doing enough?
The only way for me to go to sleep satisfied is to turn the day over to God. As I turn out the light, I say, “Thank you God for today. Thank you for what I liked and what I didn’t like. I am aware that I don’t know the meaning of most things, and for this moment, I am willing to know that all things are either good or are leading to good. Thank you and goodnight.” And then I sleep.
Most nights I sleep well.
Pleasant Dreams,
Rev. Shawn
