Hey U-nity,
Living From the Super-consciousness
“Has Anything Changed?”
When we do something “big”, what makes it big? Is it big in God or is it just a shift that brought out a change.
So I went away for ten days of Silence and a Vipassana meditation practice course. What has changed?
I’m not sure anything has changed so much as I’m more of who I actually am rather than who I behave as.
There are lots of life-changing events. Some of them we create, and others happen by surprise. I don’t want to say they happen to us, but we are affected by them. Sometimes a simple statement from a friend or teacher awakens everything we know to be true about ourselves.
Sometimes the radical shift comes when a friend or family member makes their transition. My mother’s death was what I think of as the biggest thing that ever took place in my life. I would imagine it was pretty big for her as well. Now, what makes it big? Lots of people die every day and I’m not at all aware if it has an effect on me. But, if someone I love leaves and I have the realization I won’t see them again, I experience a shock to my mind and in my body.
The bigness is determined by me. The change is determined by me. It is all based on my perception and not by the event itself.
I am looking forward to seeing my reaction to life as each day enters since last week’s event. I invite us all to keep noticing your reaction to the events in your days and see that your reactions are based on your thoughts and not the events themselves.
I have several friends who like to declare that this event or that event was a “very God-like happening.” I want to remind us all, every event is a very God-like thing. There are no big or small moments in God. There is God in God.
Blessings on all of your God moments,
Rev. Shawn
