Everyone wants to get a good value for their hard earned money. Unfortunately, many people fall into the trap of incorrectly assuming that the pet food with the lowest cost per pound is the best value. The fact is pet food is more complex than just the price per pound.
Pet food manufacturers use different ingredients in varying amounts to formulate their products. Some use ingredients, which because of their higher quality are more nutritious. Because these high quality ingredients contain more nutrition per pound, you can feed your pet less and actually save money.
For example a fifty pound dog would require four cups of food per day when fed a common grocery store brand pet food. That same dog would only need to be fed two cups per day of a certain premium pet food. In other words even though the premium food costs more per pound your daily feeding cost is actually less.
