Dogs chew things as puppies and throughout most of their adult life. It’s a very normal behavior that helps them develop and maintain their teeth and jaws and one they also use when bored or sometimes to alleviate stress. One of the most important things we can do to protect “our stuff” from our dog’s teeth is with some smart, yet simple management strategies. Keep your stuff somewhere your dog cannot access them or keep your dog sequestered from your stuff. Secondly provide your dog with appropriate chew toys and reward him for chewing what is appropriate. Keep it simple, giving your dog access to two to three toys at a time. Dogs with too many choices often get confused and make the wrong choice.
