Kate and Don explore the world of Weruva Pet Food with Chris Langellotti, starting with a discussion about how and why the company was founded and why quality is so important to Weruva's founders. Chris explains why Weruva's food is sourced in Thailand (NOT CHINA!) and why it's adherence to the highest standard for food for human consumption, the BRC, makes it exceptional. Benefits of compliance with the BRC standard mean chicken used by Weruva is raised cage-free, and is free of growth hormones, antibiotics and steroids. The fish used is wild-caught and immediately brine frozen. The same factory where Weruva is made also makes human food on a regular basis. The chicken used by Weruva is the same chicken used by Subway. We will discuss how Weruva's commitment to hand filleting means more and higher quality meat goes into each can. Other foods which are mechanically processed typically include a much higher proportion of skin and bone, as opposed to clean muscle meat. We also review the wide variety of protein sources available in Weruva foods and how the BRC quality standard requires that suppliers also be compliant with the standard.
