Well, I want to welcome all new listeners to The Truth Must Be Told. This podcast has been in the works for several years. I first thought of it at least ten years ago while watching what was happening in the world and the relationship of the Church to current events.
I found that many Christians have been weakened by the teachings that are prevailing in churches today. There seems to be very few pastors that are teaching the truth about the Gospel. I myself began to fall into this trap while attending one such church. The subtlety of the world was creeping in and I didn't realize it. Pastors were getting their sermons on-line and following worldly concepts and ideas that weakened the true meaning of Jesus' death on the cross.
Gone is the teaching of the sacrifice of Christ, that horrible price that He paid for our salvation and that of the world. There is no more talk of the blood, no talk of sin and no talk of repentance. Rather we have secular themes infiltrating the services. There is an old parable that says if you put a frog into hot water he will jump right out. However, put that frog in a pot of cold water and heat it slowly, the frog will boil to death. It is like that within the church today. The heresy teaching of some has been slowly brought in and the church is scolding itself to death.
One day while pondering this, I was reading Revelation. In chapter 3 verse 2 says "Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your deeds completed in the sight of My God." (NASB) Now I don't know if my deeds are completed but the phrase WAKE UP stirred me. I think it's time that the church gets this message.
So I thought of what I could do. I thought that if I could put together a way to bring current events into the light of the scripture. It might encourage others to seek the truth. I have always believed in being like the Bereans in the Book of Acts who searched the Scriptures daily to find whether these things be so. In other words, check it out for yourself. The problem I see today is that very few are looking into the Bible to see if what the pastor is preaching lines up with the Word. If there is doubt, then the pastor should be asked to explain. If he is half the man of God he claims to be, he will not be insulted or feel challenged he will sit down with that person and take them through the Scriptures to show that person why he interpreted that particular verse. Now many people feel that we shouldn't challenge pastors but if the Bereans checked out the Apostles, then we should be able to check out pastors.
So my podcast is one to make you think and make informed choices and that is why I intend to cover a variety of subjects. I feel this is necessary because there are so many outside influences in today's world that can cause confusion. God however is not the God of confusion. He wants to you have a sound mind and the only way that we can have that is by seeking the scriptures because in them, there is the truth and peace that we all want. You will find as we move together through the Word that your eyes will be opened and your faith strengthened.
So I hope you will join me on this adventure. I will make is a light as I can relate the topics to the Scripture whenever possible. I look forward to our journey. God Bless.
