Pea the Feary (“Faerie”) is an Atlanta-based afrofuturist artist who strives to portray the subjects in her work as “divine”. Along with divinity, we also talk about the powerful role of black women in today’s world. In examining Pea’s background and artistic style, we look to how culture, race, spirituality, and nature play different parts in the story of our humanity. We also look at the subject of balance - light and dark, soft and hard, loud and quiet, and so on, in Pea’s work. As it turns out, we can all be superheroes after all.
