In this week’s episode – the Season #3 finale, we talk with Azeem Ahmad (you know him as Azeem Digital), award-winning digital marketer, international conference speaker, diversity advocate, and host of the Azeem Digital Asks digital marketing podcast.
Azeem shares how he began as an aspiring sports journalist and when that didn’t work out he shares how he landed his first SEO gig. He discusses his time at multiple agencies, his transition to in-house SEO roles, and the different challenges each type of role presents. We also get into salary transparency, disparities in salary, knowing your value, and we share our experiences and advice for negotiating the salary you want. We also cover off on why he decided to start a podcast and how he has used his podcast to build his personal brand.
For our core topic, there’s no better way to end the season than by digging deep into Diversity and Inclusion. We talk about Azeem’s article from February entitled “Diversity and Inclusion in Marketing in 2021: Why has nothing changed?” We discuss the current state of diversity and inclusion in SEO, Azeem shares his experiences, we discuss what areas we believe are still not where they need to be, and what we can all do to continue to improve diversity and inclusion in our industry.
Lastly, we take our final round of Twitter questions of the week and award an entire box of Page 2 Podcast swag.
So get your popcorn ready as we tell Azeem’s SEO story and have another great roundtable discussion.
