Tonight’s guest is author Richard Bendell. Richard lives near Niagara Falls in Canada and works as a certified management accountant and certified public accountant. But when he wasn’t working as a CMA Richard indulges in his love for hockey history.
Ten years ago he (along with Paul Patskou and Robert MacAskill) co-wrote the book “(1972 The Summit Series: Canada vs. USSR, Stats, Lies, and Videotape, the Untold Story of Hockey’s Series of the Century”.
Yesterday marked the 50th anniversary of the final game of the 1972 Summit Series which resulted in a Canadian victory of 4-3-1 against the Soviet National Hockey Team. The Summit Series remains one of the most historic moments in hockey history. It altered not only NHL hockey but also international hockey as well.
Tonight Richard and I will discuss these changes and the untold stories that took place during the 1972 Summit Series.
