It is said that the only constant is change. It is the very nature of life itself. And as a planet and almost universally as individuals, we are as overwhelmed by the change happening around us as we are stuck in our efforts to effect the change we most want and need. There’s a reason for this. And I don’t know what the hell it is. But I’m going to find out.
Welcome to the Change Paradox. As much as we’d all love to believe change is a linear process, the perplexing reality is that it is not. It is not just an act of conscious will; the problem is not just that you’re not trying hard enough, whether it’s the kind of change you hope to bring to your life or the kind life just threw up all over you. In fact, depending on where you are in the process, all that effort may be what’s most in the way. But what *is* the nature of change, if not a straight line from A to B?
And why is it so damned hard?
I’m Dr. Dodge Rea, an Integrative Clinical Psychologist. I’ve spent my career looking at change from many points of view. Welcome to The Change Paradox. In this show, my old friend Pete Wright and I are going to take you on a quest to understand the paradoxical nature of change itself. Why? Because we want to know as much as you do. In honest, personal, and often vulnerable conversations with Change Agents of every kind, we’re going to get to the bottom of this... Well, we’re going to get into the middle of this, for damn sure, but I have a feeling it’ll only get more mysterious as we close in on that center.
