Why Wendi4APA?

Radically Well Together!

In our increasingly complex world, the realm of psychology plays a crucial role in offering insights and guidance on how we can enhance our lives and thrive collectively. The acronym VUCA, representing volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity, captures the intricate nature of…

The 100 Psychologists Rising is an empowering campaign deeply rooted in the transformative principles of movement work. Our goal is to forge a global alliance of psychologists, leveraging their local and psychological expertise to amplify the importance of wellness. We aspire to co-create pathways for access to wellness and emphasize the significance of regional cultural approaches in fostering well-being in diverse contexts.

Presidential Initiatives

Addressing a youth mental health crisis, my platform will engage young people through virtual and in-person events in 2026, fostering their leadership and addressing issues like the impact of social media, suicidality risks, and violence in schools, especially among targeted groups.

The Work and Wellness initiative aims to leverage the 2023 Work In America Survey results and psychological science to underscore the significance of workplace well-being. As a psychologist who focuses on the work experiences of Black women in leadership and work, I find valuable insights into their effective and ethical strategies for preserving wellness in challenging environments, in a range of settings — health, education, consulting, military, higher education, and more. These insights guide us in navigating similar situations and play a pivotal role in transforming workplace cultures to promote WELLNESS For ALL.

Tiffany O'Shaughnessy, PhD

Effective APA presidents are special leaders with a rare combination of intellect, conviction, wisdom, charisma, and an ability to create community. I know this from close work with four APA presidents. Wendi Williams is one of those special leaders. Her intersectional feminist/Black/liberation psychology perspective includes everyone in psychology and society.
