Racconti dal nascondiglio

La storia della missione Simia, capitanata dal maggiore Tilman, si snoda parallelamente a quella della missione Gela, guidata dal capitano Brietsche. Le due missioni furono infatti sganciate la stessa notte, alla fine di Agosto 1944, sull'Altopiano di Asiago e ricevute dalla Ruina del maggiore Wilkinson. Dopo l'atterraggio, Tilman e i suoi si spostarono nel Cansiglio, e poi sulle Vette a nord di Feltre. In questa zona, la repressione nazifascista fu particolarmente brutale e la missione dovette affrontare il duro inverno del 1944-1945 insieme a quel che rimaneva del movimento partigiano.

The story of the SImia mission, lead by Major Tilman, is closely tied to the one of the Gela mission of Captian Brietsche. The two missions were dropped together, at the end of August 1944, and were received by the Ruina mission, lead by Major Wilkinson on the Asiago plateau. After the landing, Tilman moved to the Cansiglio forset and then to the Vette, north of Feltre. In this area repression was particularly brutal and the mission had to overcome the rigid winter of 1944-1945 together with what was left of the Resistance movement.
