So, you’ve got a big idea you desperately want to get into people’s ears but you’ve got no idea how to turn your podcast dreams into reality? Or maybe you can feel it in your waters you’re meant to be a podcaster but you can’t come up with that killer concept?
Starting from scratch can be tough!
How do you work out what equipment you need without losing half your life reading reviews from people you don’t know? How do you work out how to put together the right show for your audience when you don’t have one yet? How do you ensure your show doesn’t fade into oblivion like so many others?
I’ll tell you how…
You join me in PodSchool and we do it together, step-by-step!
My name is Rachel Corbett and I’ve worked professionally for over two decades in radio and podcasting.
I’ve worked in front of the mic hosting and producing radio shows for some of the biggest networks in Australia and I’ve been at the helm of over ten podcasts including Before The Bump, You’ve Gotta Start Somewhere, Small Change, and Google Australia’s first podcast, Rethink.
I’ve also worked behind the scenes as Head of Podcasts for two major audio networks, overseeing the creation and development of almost 60 shows.
From 2017 – 2020 I was Head of Podcasts for Mamamia where I grew the podcast network from 15 to over 35 shows and quadrupled the audience to over 90 million downloads and more than 1 million unique listeners a month.
We were lucky enough to win a few awards for some of the podcasts I built there including Best Use of Podcasts at the Native Advertising Awards 2021 & 2020 for That’s Incredible and The Split, Best Business & Marketing Podcast at the Australian Podcast Awards 2019 for Lady Startup, Best Podcast of 2019 for The Quicky at the Mumbrella Publish Awards and Best Branded Podcast at the Australian Podcast Awards 2020 for That’s Incredible.
I’m now Head of Podcasts & Digital Content for Nova Entertainment where my team and I have built out their original podcast network creating shows like The Space, Project Ari, The Rush, Unpacked, High Scrollers and Brenda, Call Me!
We’ve also won a bunch of awards including Best Podcast (Series) at the Mumbrella Publish Awards 2023 for Dear Clementine, Best Audio Non-Fiction at the 2022 Australian Writers Guild Awards for The Phantom Never Dies, Best Branded Podcast at the Australian Podcast Awards 2021 & Best Use of Podcasts at the Native Advertising Awards 2022 for Project Ari, Best Original Podcast – Branded & Unbranded at the 2022 ACRAs for Project Ari and Brenda, Call Me! as well as a Mental Health Matters Award 2021 for The Space.
So, if you’re looking for someone who knows what they’re talking about when it comes to best-practice podcasting, both behind and in front of the mic, you’ve come to the right place.
Getting things right takes time, effort and knowledge. Wing it for long enough and you might eventually get there but if you’re starting from scratch it can take years to find your groove.
So why not speed up the process and join me in PodSchool?
In this course, I’ve taken my decades of professional experience and distilled it down into nine easy-to-follow modules (and a bunch of awesome bonuses) so you can get your podcast started on the right foot.
This course will fast-track your path to podcasting success and help you put together a professional-sounding show even if you’ve never recorded anything before.
By the end of it, you’ll be equipped with all the skills and knowledge you need to set up a home studio, record a high-quality show and present it like a true professional.
You’ll also learn how to edit so you sound like a one-take wonder, add audio production so your show sounds like it rolled straight out of a radio studio, grow your audience (so it’s not just you and your best friend listening) and turn your podcast into a business.
PodSchool is designed to help you avoid blindly stumbling around in the audio dark and give you everything you need to make sure your show is at its best from the moment you press record on your first episode.
what do you get?
In this module, we’ll get you set up for podcasting success by making sure you’ve got an idea and format that will appeal to an audience.
If you’ve already got an idea you love, great! We’ll work out if it’s good to go as is or if it might need a little tweaking. If you’ve got no idea what you want to talk about, don’t worry! I’ll help you find the idea that’s right for you.
WE’LL COVER…
In this module, I’ll take you through all the tools, tech and equipment you need to get your dulcet tones down on tape.
I’ll also help you sort through the noise (coz who wants to read ANOTHER microphone review) so you can buy the right set-up for your home studio, no matter what your level of experience or budget.
WE’LL COVER…
If you find the idea of sitting behind a microphone terrifying, I’ll share industry secrets that will help you sound calm, confident and in control (even when you’re crapping yourself).
If you’re not nervous but you’ve never presented anything before, I’ll share tips on how to connect with your audience and keep them engaged whether you’re solo or hosting with someone else.
WE’LL COVER…
In this module, I’ll take you through the different recording options as well as how to make sure the audio you’ve got is the highest possible quality.
Thinking about the sound of your show is essential if you want it to find an audience so I share my professional tips for making it sound like you’re definitely not recording in your bedroom (even if you are).
WE’LL COVER…
In this module, I’ll take you through why editing is important and how you can use it to completely transform your show.
I’ll also show you how audio production, whether it’s simple or complex, can take your show from good to great.
WE’LL COVER…
You’ve got your show down on tape and it’s sounding great, now you need to get it into people’s ears.
In this module, we’ll go through everything you need to know to make sure your podcast is in all the places your audience will be looking for it.
WE’LL COVER…
Getting a podcast out into the world is about more than just recording an episode.
In this module, we’ll discuss all the things you need around your podcast to make it a success including your website, show notes pages and social media accounts.
WE’LL COVER…
What good is a podcast if there’s nobody listening to it?
Getting more eyes and ears on your podcast is essential if you want your show to be a success and if you want to think about monetising.
So in this module, I’ll take you through the best-practice methods to grow your audience.
WE’LL COVER…
Now I’ve got your attention!
Everyone wants to know how to monetise a podcast and while there are no guarantees your show will make money you have to think more broadly than just selling ads.
In this module, I’ll take you through how to attract sponsors and make great ads but also how to monetise without putting a single ad in your show.
WE’LL COVER…
what else do you get?
Never used audio editing software before? Don’t have a clue about editing? Wouldn’t know where to start when it comes to uploading to a media host?
Don’t worry! I’ve put together a series of ‘over the shoulder’ video tutorials where you can watch me go through every step in the podcasting process so you don’t have to do it alone.
Interviewing guests on your podcast can be a great source of content but it’s not as simple as sitting down and having a yarn.
There’s a lot that goes into interviewing before, during and after you record to make sure you’re getting the best possible content. So in this lesson, I share tips I’ve learned from conducting thousands of hours of interviews with everyone from everyday people with an awesome story to Will Smith, Katy Perry and Al Gore.
Worried about paying a designer big bucks to create your podcast cover art?
If you’ve got a bit of creative flair you can create your own podcast artwork for free and I’ll take you through the process step-by-step and show you how you can DIY your own show logo.
A constantly updating list of all the tools, tech and equipment you need to set up your home studio, record, edit, grow and monetise your podcast.
It’s a comprehensive, constantly changing resource so you can make informed decisions about the podcasting gear that’s right for you, no matter what your budget or level of expertise.
Additional videos for people who want to dive a little deeper into the content we cover in the modules.
Topics include tips on how to outsource tasks for your podcast, how to pitch yourself as a guest on other podcasts and how to launch your podcast when you don’t have a following.
got questions?
The course consists of just over 10 hours of video lessons and tutorials and your membership gives you access to the materials for a full year which is plenty of time to go through everything and get your podcast started.
Straight away! The yearly membership starts from the minute you purchase the course so you don’t have to wait for the lessons to begin, everything is right there waiting for you the minute you enrol.
Nope! PodSchool is designed to be done at your own pace so it can fit perfectly into your schedule. All the videos are pre-recorded and you get access to everything as soon as you enrol so you can go through the materials at whatever time is best for you.
Yes! If you purchase the course during my launch period you get access to two live Q&A sessions where you can meet other PodSchoolers, hear their ideas and where they’re at and ask me anything you like about your podcast. If you’re still enrolled in PodSchool when I launch the course again you’ll also get invited to those Q&A’s as well. And if you’ve got questions outside those times you’re always welcome to email me!
That depends on how much time you’ve got available to dive into the course! There are just over 10 hours of video lessons and tutorials so I’ve had some students smash it out in a weekend and start putting their podcast together by Monday. Other students like to go through the course bit by bit. But if you had a firm idea and you wanted to get it up and running quickly you could go through all the materials and be recording your first episode in a week.
No problems! If you want to jump back into the course after your yearly membership has expired or you just want to extend your membership by a month or two because life got in the way, I’ve got a Graduate Membership which allows you to access the course month by month for as long as you need it.
Nope! In the first module, I’ll take you through strategies that will help you come up with an idea that’s right for you. If you’ve got the beginnings of a concept, I’ll help you work out if it’s worth pursuing and if you’ve got absolutely no idea I’ll help you get your creative juices flowing!
Absolutely! You don’t have to have pressed record on anything to get up to speed in PodSchool. I’ve designed the course to be really easy to follow with no previous knowledge required.
You sure will! After finishing the PodSchool modules and bonus videos you’ll be armed with all the information professional podcasters have at their disposal, so the rest is up to you!
While you’re welcome to send through questions as you’re going through the material, audio feedback isn’t included in the course.
No problems. You can email through your questions any time or save them up for the PodSchool Q&A’s!

PodSchool success stories
“This class was worth every dollar!”
“To have every resource I needed (especially the ones I didn’t even know I needed) in one spot streamlined this process and made it less intimidating. I found myself coming back to a video multiple times as I completed steps and being appreciative that I did not have to digest everything all at once. Truly a smart investment for me since I wanted a show that would be quality and sustainable.”

“When I made the decision to start a podcast I googled ‘how to make a podcast’ and quickly realised I needed more help than I could easily find. When I came across this course I was hoping it would save me time and it did. I watched all the content, used the templates and started… several weeks later I had recorded an initial episode. During the whole process the information from Rachel was invaluable. It helped me focus on the right things, so I didn’t have to figure it out for myself. Thank you Rachel!”

“I’d recommend PodSchool to EVERYONE!”
“Spending money on any online course always carries with it a bit (or a lot) of trepidation because you never know exactly what you are getting until you spend the dollars and get to see the course in all its glory. I am so glad I gave Rach’s Podschool a go! It was so engaging and real. I felt like a friend was chatting casually with me, so it was very easy to absorb the detail Rachel provided, which was extensive. Thank you Rachel, your professionalism and experience paired with your easy-going, fun-loving nature made learning about the world of podcasting easy and enjoyable.”
Sherridan Wilton
“If I hadn’t done the course I’d still be procrastinating!”
“I knew I wanted to start a podcast but felt completely lost. I’m not a techy person, so the equipment, software, hosting, and platform stuff was very overwhelming! Rachel’s course broke everything down into digestible and easy-to-understand chunks, so I knew exactly what steps I needed to take. Now I’m really enjoying the podcasting experience!”
