Episode 84 is an interview with Catra Corbett. Before she was an ultrarunner, she was a drug addict, a hair stylist. a go-go dancer, a daughter, and a friend to many. The drugs led her to drop out of high school, develop an eating disorder, and damage her relationship with her family. Catra eventually found herself in jail. That was the start of her turn-around.
In 1996, two years after being clean and sober, Catra started to dig myself out of a pretty dark hole — starting exercising by lifting weights and walking. She never liked running when she was a kid, but her dad (who died unexpectedly when Catra was seventeen) had planted a seed in her head about how long distance runners can work through all kinds of pain and accomplish truly remarkable things. One day she just started running.
Decades later, Catra is one of the few humans who has completed more than one hundred 100-mile races. She runs every single day, and it has completely transformed her life.

I particularly like advice on training, nutrition and events (hope to do GSER one year). I now look forward to each episode. My only bleat would be the sound quality is sometimes poor. Keep up the good work Izzy!”
Thanks Tim for the review. I am hoping that people can listen beyond the occasional sound quality issues as they are often out of my control. I really appreciate your understanding.
