A new podcast is born.

Sometimes it is furry. Sometimes slimy. Sometimes it has four legs. Sometimes it has none.

But every time, it tells the story of an animal. And it tells us what that species has done for us humans as we ourselves have evolved.

In this episode we keep it simple. I introduce myself and mention a few words about the reasons for starting the other5billion podcast. Then, we look at how the podcast is going to work by looking forward to episode 1, which is going to be all about the husky, that magnificent dog breed.

The episode features an excerpt from the forthcoming interview with John Killingbeck who was a dog team driver in Antarctica during two expeditions with the British Antarctic Survey. We also look to the situation for huskies in the present day and tell the story of Ronin, a husky rescued by the team at Dublin Husky Rescue.

Finally, we finish the episode by introducing a wonderful social enterprise called Mossy.Earth and let our listeners know how they can begin planting their very own wild forests in Europe without leaving the comfort of their own home.
