NOW and NEXT

It started out as a protest against Ottawa's demand for all cross border truckers to be double dose vaccinated. It quickly turned into an Anti-Vax venue which has been overrun by alt-right wing nuts who compare their "suffering" to the Jews who were imprisoned an murdered by Hitler's Nazis. Then there is the cohort who aren't quite sure what it's all about but are making Twitter guarantees that the stop in Ottawa will look alot like the insurrection in Washington on January 6, 2022. It's easy to dismiss when the whole thing is laced with that level of toxicity. But, I don't think our political leaders (such as they are) can afford to ignore it. Is it a coincidence that this convoy started about the same time Mainstreet research was in the field and found the Liberals, Conservatives, NDP and BQ are all DOWN in popular support while the People's Party of Canada is UP 8 percentage points? Also, is Putin prepared to gamble on a shooting war in Ukraine or more likely to incite a counter-revolution allowing him to plant a puppet government in Kyiv? We talk to Christian Leuprecht from the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario, and David Schultz, professor of political science at Hamline University in Minnesota.
