Midcard Matinee is back with a powerhouse, critically-acclaimed, heavyweight challenger for the Midcard Matinee Movie Championship, The Wrestler starring Mickey Rourke, Marisa Tomei, Evan Rachel Wood and a PILE of indie wrestlers.
Steve was out of town with the Good Doctor, so the Pavloski boys called in a ringer, Dr. Kirk Hendershott-Kraetzer, a film/TV critic PhD and professor at Olivet College, to help them out with this Darren Aronofsky flick. The crew breaks down the plot, as always, and talks about the highlights (and lowlights) from the film, how Mickey worked as a wrestler, sorry, THE wrestler, the scary world of deathmatch wrestling, emotional stuff about the low-level indie wrestling scene, some real film stuff with Kirk, and SO MUCH MORE! Once they dole out their star ratings, they'll see how The Wrestler stacks up to the current Midcard Matinee Movie Champion, The Longest Yard, with the title on the line!
