Ep. 04-38: Scream (1996)

Woodsboro, California, turns into a bloodbath when a masked killer arrives. High schooler, Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), whose mother was killed a year prior, becomes the target of the masked killer. Her boyfriend Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich) is the main suspect, along with Sidney’s father. Local Tabloid News Reporter, Gail Weathers (Courteney Cox), and Deputy Dwight “Dewey” Riley (David Arquette) investigate and try to discover who the killer is and if it’s the same person who killed Sid’s mom the year before.

Wes Craven re-invented and revitalized the slasher movie genre with this modern horror classic. The movie is vastly entertaining, managing to be funny, clever, and scary, as a ghost-face masked killer stalks high-school students in middle-class suburbia. Join us, and our special guest, Tyler McDaniel (30 & Nerdy podcast), as we discuss the terrific team of Wes Craven (director) and Kevin Williamson (screenplay), the memorable ensemble cast, and the film’s iconic villain. Listen, as Johnny Has the Keys flees from yet another knife-wielding, multiple-murdering, masked maniac!
