With the recent spike in COVID-19 infection rates and increases in hospital occupancy across Texas, Governor Greg Abbott and local officials issued a number of restrictions on businesses and citizens in an attempt to slow the spread. Jackson Walker attorneys Brad Nitschke and Amanda Crouch give an update on a few of the critical issues affecting Texas citizens and businesses, including Governor Abbott's order, GA-28, which placed the following restrictions:
1) Ban on outdoor gatherings of more than 100 people, with certain exemptions, like religious gatherings.
2) Bans individuals from visiting bars or other TABC licensed “similar establishments.”
3) Bans commercial rafting or river-tubing.
4)As of June 29th, restaurant capacity is limited to no more than 50%.
A number of local restrictions are in effect, as well. For more information about those restrictions, go to JW.com/Coronavirus.
