On the inaugural episode of the Idea 2 Impact podcast, we sit down with Dr. Mark Benden, Department Head and Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health, as well as Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering, and Director of the Ergonomics Center at the School of Public Health.

Mark starts by sharing how he found his way to Texas A&M and then dives into how he has enjoyed life as a husband, and father, now grandfather, while also becoming one of A&M’s most successful inventors and lovable mentors.

This wasn’t always easy, especially as a junior faculty member, but with a lot of determination and effort in the beginning, his research has now been used in setting industry standards, and he also holds 21 US patents and several others that are pending, all while teaching, researching, and mentoring students and faculty alike.
