6/19 Imagine the Environmental Friendly Performing Arts Organization

The Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra and Concert Hall has announced that they will reduce the air travel of soloists and conductors to take a step towards being more environmental friendly. Bernhard Kerres explores in the lastest episode of Haydn 1791 what stopping air travel would mean for performing arts organisations. He points out that environmental pressure will impact arts organisations and that this offers the opportunity for them to root themselves much deeper in their respective communities.

In other news, the most famous opera house in the world, La Scala in Milan, has just announced a EUR 15 M sponsorship from Saudi Arabia. As part of the deal the cultural minister of Saudi Arabia will get a seat on the board of La Scala. The Philadelphia Orchestra has announced their 2019/20 season with a strong commitment to female composers and conductors.
