Hi - Welcome to Got A Phing? In today's podcast, I want to talk about why people choose the wrong jobs.
I've been seeing a lot of requests and messages from people asking me to help them find a job. So, normally I like to ask them - what is their current career situation and what kind of jobs are they looking for?
Most of the times the answers that I get are very feeling-based. What I mean is this - they know that they want to leave or they have been made redundant (which is really unfortunate) but they don't really know what they are looking for. A lot of it is really a push factor as they feel really unhappy or something just doesn't feel right, they couldn't get along with their colleagues etc. However, they don't really know where they are heading towards.
So, they are just rushing on applying for jobs and attending all these resume/interview workshops without first knowing - what are they good at? What do they actually want to do? What really went wrong in their previous job and make sure that it doesn't happen again in the next job.
The problem is they didn't know what they wanted and what's really important to consider when they chose the job in the first place.
