达马西奥的这本《笛卡尔的错误》，用两位罕见的脑损伤病人的案例，推导了 20 世纪末划时代意义的「情绪脑」理论。我们惊讶地发现笛卡尔错了，弗洛伊德也错了，我们一直以来先验的「大脑指挥身体」的理念都错了。人类肉身的局限性，躯体的脆弱性，才是指挥大脑运作，产生人类独一无二理性思想的重要根基。
