I think one of the things I missed the most when swimming ended was having a clear governing rule in place that applied to every situation I was in. From the moment I started taking the sport seriously in 6th grade until I graduated college, I was able to look at every situation through the lens of “how will this effect my performance in the pool?” The one rule of all rules I had for myself was always make the decision that meant I’d get better as a swimmer.
