Feminist Folklore examines fairy tales, myths, and legends from around the world through a feminist lens, asking the question: how do the stories we tell about girls and women inform our attitudes about gender, sexuality, and more?

13: Thor's Family Needs Therapy

This week, Rachael shares a story from Norse myth about the death of Thor's brother Baldr, their mother Frigg's deadly oversharing, and, of course, everyone's favorite trickster, Loki. Oh, and let's not forget, the queen of the Medium Place underworld, Hel! And if you're familiar with her mainly as Cate Blanchett from the Marvel movie, you're in for a surprise! Turns out the original Hel wore way less eyeliner, way more corpse legs!
