Dissecting This Fiction cuts through a variety of pop culture content including movies, television, and gaming. If you spend an unhealthy amount of time analyzing the content you watch, then you too might be D T F, so come join us as we make as much sense out of it all as we can!
Welcome to Dissecting This Fiction! It's episode 25, so come join along as my Co-host (Jessica) and I (Steven) go over the latest in movies, tv shows, and games.
What's On The Exam Table?
We start with a few quarantine friendly comic book offers to help people pass the time!
In gaming, Sony finally reveals some information on the Playstation 5 in their “deep dive”. Don’t forget about Xbox though! Microsoft also gives us more info on the Xbox Series X. Gamestop tries to be the hero that nobody wanted during this pandemic. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 may be getting a remaster, only South Korea truly knows though. Square Enix has some bad news for the release of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, well only if you like physical copies. Nintendo won’t allow the use of Mario even in your Dreams. Resident Evil 3 has a demo out now!? Why are you even reading this? Go play it!
In TV, Hollywood steps up to help the medical field with supplies. Google wants to make Netflix viewing easier for groups in these times of isolation. Europe wants to slow down on streaming. It's even worse news for France and Disney Plus. Speaking of the big D! Rosario Dawson is joining the Mandalorian as a pretty big no name character. Jurassic World could be targeting television now. The WWE won’t have a sell out crowd this year. Lastly, Steven watched an anime on Netflix called Akame Ga Kill! By himself, but the two hosts both watched a Marc Maron comedy special. Was it really all that Special though? Listen to our Review.
In Trailers, we watched the second trailer for Jungle Cruise, and others for The Postcard Killings, The True History of the Kelly Gang, and Mortal Kombat Legends Scorpion’s Revenge. Not sure why we still watch trailers when there are no movie theaters to watch them in though.
In movies, Onward moves...well...onward to digital release. Black Widow has people concerned about the MCU timeline. Jake Johnson is a hero we all need right now. Sonic dashes to digital too, along with Emma, The Invisible Man, and The Hunt. Netflix helps relieve the film industry and gets a deal to have The Lovebirds released on their service. The two stories are not related. Drive-in theaters found a quarantine loophole! Vin Diesel apparently now quotes famous directors about himself...well played. Finally, remember those movies getting home releases now that theaters are closed? Well, we rented The Hunt starring Betty Galpin, it’s the one that had a lot of unnecessary controversy! We give our spoiler-free review on it.
