Dissecting This Fiction cuts through a variety of pop culture content including movies, television, and gaming. If you spend an unhealthy amount of time analyzing the content you watch, then you too might be D T F, so come join us as we make as much sense out of it all as we can!
First off, it occurred after our recording, but some asshat on the inter-web decided to leak spoilers of The Last of Us Part 2, so be careful surfing the Inter-web...I mean internet.
In gaming, Microsoft has one last Xbox One X special edition console before next-gen arrives. We might even have the logo design via a trademark. Rockstar tells Grand Theft Auto 5 to hit the old dusty trail on Game Pass, but Red Dead Redemption 2 will be making an appearance. Activision is still fighting the cheater battlefront on Modern Warfare. Gamestop looks to reopen around the world, but will gamers want to revive a downed company? Move over Activision, Nintendo has player accounts compromised by hackers. PAX West is standing its ground against the Coronavirus. Steven stumbled across a new release retro game called Gato Roboto, involving a cat in a mech suit. SOLD!
In TV news, Amazon Prime and Netflix have some new releases for May. HBO Max gets an official release date and you just might already be subscribed and Westworld will be there for the fun with a season 4. Star Wars is making noise with multiple shows. We have an update on the Cassian series. The mandalorian season 3 is already in production. Where the heck is season 2!? What day is it? Oh, and Disney Plus is planning a female led series and we have thoughts. NBC is dropping a conference call style Parks and Rec reunion episode. Netflix gets to work on a Sherlock show, but it isn't who you think. Would you like a clue? Jessica gives her final thoughts of Most Dangerous Game on Quibi and Interrogation on CBS All Access. Finally, Superstore closes up shop for the season and we watched it all.
In trailers, we saw trailers for Time Warp, a documentary about cult classics, Netflix's The Wrong Missy, and Hulu's Spaceship Earth, another Documentary about a cult.
In movies, Scoob! gets shifted to a video on demand release. SXSW launched films from its recently cancelled conference on Amazon and no subscription is required. AMC is hesitant to reopen theaters. Paramount and Sony play musical release dates. Marvel makes some more changes to the MCU schedule, no thanks to Sony. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark has more to tell. The Saint gets a reboot. One Punch Man is making its way to the big screen. Will it be a "hit"!? The Hunger Games gets a prequel based on the book that isn't released yet. Yes, you read that right. We help cast the film too. We watched a 12 min short on the making of 1917 and it wasn't on Quibi. Finally, we watched The Dark Tower after a friend inspired Steven, while talking about the books. Now he's talking about reading. What!?
