Gerald Leo Posner (born May 20, 1954) is an investigative journalist, author and former Wall Street attorney. A native of San Francisco, CA, Posner was a Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of California at Berkeley (1975). He was also a national debating champion at this time, winning the Meiklejohn Award. Posner went on to receive a JD from UC Hastings, Berkeley.
Perhaps most notably of yet, is his New York Times bestselling book: Case Closed: Lee Harvey Oswald and the Assassination of JFK (1993), which digs into the John F. Kennedy assassination. Gerald followed that up with the book: Killing the Dream: James Earl Ray and the Assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. (1998). In 2015 Posner released: God's Bankers: A History of Money and Power at the Vatican. This work became Posner's third NY Times Bestseller.
"A merciless pitbull of an investigator."
Chicago Tribune
Gerald's latest book PHARMA: Greed, Lies and the Poisoning of America eyes corrupt corporate American pharmaceuticals. Listed in 2016 as #52 of Deloitte's "Fast 500 North America", one such company that comes under Posner's fire is Insys (Phoenix, AZ). Maker of Subsys, a sublingual liquid form of fentanyl, the company declared bankruptcy (Delaware) in 2019. Former VP of sales, Alec Burlakoff, was accused of operating a program that paid doctors lucrative "speaking fees" to encourage prescriptions of the drug and in 2017, Insys founder John Kapoor had been charged with RICO conspiracy and conspiracy to violate the Anti-Kickback Law.
Posner regularly contributes to NBC, the History Channel, CNN, FOX News, CBS, and MSNBC. He is a member of the NY and DC bars as well as the International Criminal Court.
