There are SO many people (me included), that love to travel. I know I have a list of about 100 places I’d love to see in my lifetime… but there are so many factors that can hold us back from actually getting on a plane and going somewhere. You know, things like time, money, and JOBS. Those pesky jobs keeping us from being a jetsetter… it’s as though we have to pick one or the other. A job or travel… But what if you could do BOTH? What if you could travel and see the world, AND make a positive social impact, while also working?
My guest this week is Ann Davis, the founder and CEO of Venture With Impact - a coworking program that engages professionals on a 4-week-skills-based volunteering program ABROAD while working remotely for their jobs, allowing them to develop professionally, rediscover purpose, and in the process, provide a positive social impact.
ABOUT ANN:After surviving cancer and subsequently traveling to over 40 countries in her 20’s, Ann found her most valuable and fulfilling travel experiences to be the instances when she stayed in one place, and worked with the local population – forming relationships and learning about their culture in the process. At the same time, she saw friends and colleagues struggle between the desire to maintain careers that provide financial security and the desire to travel and work for the social good. Life is too short not to have it all, so she founded Venture with Impact with the dream that working professionals could share in these same experiences while still working from their jobs.
Prior to founding Venture with Impact, she worked for 4 years as a teacher in the New Orleans and New York school systems, initially through Teach for America. Additionally, at the age of 18, she founded Swim for Success, a nonprofit dedicated to providing free swimming lessons and water safety skills to New Orleans Youth.
