Today we chat with classic Gemini and Berlin-based artist, Lyndal Walker, as she discusses two of her previous works and her current zodiac collection, COSMIC CHILDREN.
Cosmic Children is super modern, with diverse representation, and ignores the gender binary in favor of the underlying archetype expressed by each sign.
The two previous works featuring fans and silk scarves feature classic Gemini/Mercurial themes of (visual) communication, duality, and the trickster.
"Lyndal Walker's solo practice has been concerned with themes of gender, identity, time, and fashion. The nature of images and the process of looking are core conceptual concerns that pervade her photographs and installations. Challenging gender stereotypes and exploring fluidity have been an aspect of her practice for many years and she has done this through forms that challenge convention and fine art traditions.
Walker has held lecturing positions at Universities including Monash, RMIT, and the Victorian College of the Arts.
