Sophie Payten is a singer-songwriter from Australia and releases music as Gordi. She’s been featured in multiple TV series and films like The Walking Dead, The Vampire Diaries, and supported major artists like Bon Iver, Of Monsters and Men, The Tallest Man on Earth, and others. In this episode, Gordi shares her process producing an album in a remote cottage with limited resources, and using a field recorder to sample random sounds like a car engine, cockatoos, etc. She also explains her songwriting process and mental flow for creating music, as well as her logistical setup for performing with Ableton Live at the Sydney Opera House using a full band/ backing tracks.
